Kindergarten Registration Begins February 1, 2018

Beginning February 1, 2018, Hardisty School will begin the process of accepting applications for children entering Kindergarten in September 2018.  In addition, we will begin acception applications for students new to Edmonton Public Schools.

All parents wishing to register a child in Kindergarten (or a child who is not currently an Edmonton Public Schools student) can complete an application for enrolment in person at the school.  The application form may also be down loaded from the Edmonton Public Schools website at epsb.ca.

    Please note

Children whose birthday falls between March 2,2013 and March 1, 2014 are eligible to apply to attend Kindergarten for the 2018/19 school year.

Parents must provide the following to complete an application:

    1.  A completed, signed Student Registration Form - available at the school at epsb.ca

    2.  Confirmation of address for the student's parents/guardian (driver's license, utility bill, lease agreement, property tax bill)

    3.  Legal proof of the students name, citizenship and birth date (Candian provincial birth certificate, Canadian citizenship document, passport, student visa)

Parents of children who are current Hardisty students or who are attending other Edmonton Public Schools will be required to "pre-enroll" between March 12 and April 13.

Sign in to SchoolZone between 9 a.m. on March 12 and 4 p.m. on April 16, 2018 to select your child's preferred school for the 2018-19 school year.

When you sign in to your parent SchoolZone account on your computer, tablet or smartphone:

    1.  Choose the "Next Year" tab

    2.  Select the name of the child you are pre-enrolling

    3.  Follow the instructions to select your child's preferred school for next year

Course selection is not part of selecting your child's preferred school in SchoolZone.  Junior High and high school students will choose their specific courses (e.g., core courses, fine arts, career and technology studies) through a separate process at their current school.

If your address has changed, please update your information with your child's current school before pre-enrolling in SchoolZone.

Talk to your child's current school principal if you:

    1.  Don't know the password for your parent SchoolZone account

    2.  Need help signing in to SchoolZone

    3.  Have a question about completing pre-enrolment in SchoolZone

    4.  Need a paper form instead

Please contact the school if you have any questions regarding registration and pre-enrolment or go to http://www.epsb.ca/schools/register/ for more information.

    Instructional Focus

Hardisty School has a strong focus on student achievement. It is what we are all about.

To that end we have zeroed in on Literacy and Numeracy. Our division one and two students have common literacy intervention reading group times everyday. Our divison three students have common language arts and math times that allow for flexible groupings and individualized instruction.

We are proud of the gains we are making in these areas and continue to build the skills necessary to make today's learners, tomorrow's leaders.

Welcome to the Hardisty Website!

It is now February!  Officially halfway through the school year!  Naturally, this turns our attention to preparing for the upcoming school year.  We are excited about the promise the planning for the new school year brings.  Hardisty Kindergarten to Grade 9 School is a warm and welcoming place.

Our Learning Community

As a staff, we are committed to serving our students and their families to the best of our abilities. Our goal is to create a community where:

  • we see everyone as a learner - children and adults alike
  • we face with challenges by working to support our students and engage them in building the skills they need to succeed
  • we engage in clear and consistant communication with home, not only to inform, but also to seek input into how we can best meet the needs of our students
  • we are committed to continuous improvement in order to provide the highest quality education to our students and most effective services to our families

3 R’s

At Hardisty, our 3R’s - Respect, Responsibility, Relationships are front and center in our minds and hearts. You will see this commitment, not only in the halls on posters, but in our daily work. It is not simply an expectation for students but it serves as a basis for our decision making and how we interact as a school community.   Students, staff and parents are encouraged to show respect regardless of the actions of others, take responsibility for the learning and actions and to work to build relationships that create a positive, supportive and caring learning environment for all.

We are home to 4 District Programs that support the communities we serve.  There are two K - 9 programs:

Community: This program serves families in the greater Hardisty are for regular Kindergarten to Grade 9 programming.  We are open to registration for any students within our attendance area and beyond.

Logos Christian:  This EPSB  alternative program is a non-denominational, faith-based program that incorporates Christian teachings into the Alberta Program of Studies.  The program is open to students throughout the city and is served by a designated Transportation Service Area for all grades.  The program features daily devotions and prayer in every classroom, biblical verse memorization, monthly chapels and worship for all students and several special events for students such as City Wide Chapel and Faith Day.  There is no fee to attend this program and it is supported by the Logos Society of Edmonton.  Please check their website at christian program.ca.

Interactions:  Hardisty hosts this District Center program for students in Grade 7 - 9 diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Individual Support Program:  Hardisty hosts this District Centre program for students in grade 1 - 9 with several physical/medical disabilities.
